Jessica Zander, M.S. Ed., began her Yoga journey while teaching special education at a charter school in Newark, NJ. After witnessing the incredible impact that practicing some basic Yoga techniques had on even the most challenging students, Jessica decided to focus on bringing Yoga to as many students with special needs as possible.
Throughout her career, Jessica has served as a special education teacher, as well as a special education coordinator and consultant in a variety of school settings. After completing a transformative training in Yoga for the Special Child® with Sonia Sumar, she added Yoga teacher to her resume. For the past four years, Jessica has used her knowledge of special education, along with her intuitive nature and passion for Yoga, to help scores of children with special needs improve their confidence, coordination, self-modulation, and overall happiness.
In addition to teaching private and school based Yoga, Jessica has presented on the benefits of Yoga for the Body and Brain at the national KIPP Schools’ Special Education Conference. She has also served as an editor for the revised edition of the book, Yoga for the Special Child ®, and co-produced Sonia Sumar’s, Soul to Soul mantra album. It is Jessica’s great honor to provide a safe, loving environment for her students in which ALL children can practice Yoga.
